	Aurelio Di Virgilio (Atri, 1995) is an artist working in the field of performing arts. He lives and works in Milan. Trained at the Scuola del Piccolo Teatro di Milano, he develops an intermedial choreographic practice that intertwines the languages of dance and visual arts. His research focuses on themes of extinction and disappearance, explored through minor imaginaries and medieval mythologies.


His work has been presented in institutions and theatres including One Gee in Fog (Geneva, 2025), Pollinaria (Civitella Casanova, 2025), Fabbrica Europa (Florence, 2024), Tasdance (Launceston, 2024), Operaestate Festival (Bassano del Grappa, 2023), Santarcangelo Festival – FONDO (Santarcangelo, 2023), Kinkaleri SpazioK (Prato, 2023), Lavanderia a Vapore (Turin, 2023), Mattatoio – Prendersi Cura (Rome, 2022), Cango (Florence, 2020), and LAC Lugano (Lugano, 2019).

Aurelio Di Virgilio (Atri, 1995) è un artista attivo nel campo delle arti performative. Vive e lavora a Milano. Formatosi alla Scuola del Piccolo Teatro di Milano, sviluppa una pratic coreografica intermediale che intreccia i linguaggi della danza e delle arti visive. La sua ricerca si concentra sui temi dell’estinzione e della sparizione, riletti attraverso immaginar minori e mitologie medievali.

LYNX LYNX (2025) is a site-specific performance that forms part of a broader research on territory, observed through mythological animals, extinct species, or animals on the verge of extinction, understood as gateways to minor or overlooked narratives.

Starting from the artist’s place of origin, Abruzzo, LYNX LYNX by Aurelio Di Virgilio enters into dialogue with the Apennine lynx (locally known as the “Gatto Cervone”), a presence that is at once documented and mythologized, oscillating between ecological fact and collective imagination.
This imagined figure engages with the medieval allegory of the scented panther — a creature that combines ferocity and poetic attraction — proposing it as a liminal figure through which to reflect on themes of disappearance.

LYNX LYNX (2025) è una performance site-specific che si inserisce in una ricerca più ampia sul territorio, osservato attraverso figure animali mitologiche, estinte o in via destinzione, intese come porte di accesso a narrazioni minori. Partendo dal territorio d’origine, l’Abruzzo, LYNX LYNX di Aurelio Di Virgilio entra in relazione con la lince appenninica (detta localmente “Gatto Cervone”), presenza al tempo stesso documentata e mitizzata, oscillante tra dato ecologico e immaginario collettivo. La figura immaginat dialoga con l’allegoria medievale della pantera profumata — creatura che unisce ferocia e attrazione poetica — proponendola come figura liminale per riflettere sui temi della scomparsa.

	SCENTED PANTHER is a performance that turns its gaze toward the medieval allegory of the perfumed panther: an iconic, resilient, fierce, seductive, and elusive creature imagined as the embodiment of poetry. This new research emerges from a desire to explore the themes of disappearance and extinction.
SCENTED PANTHER is a choreographic investigation into the resistance and persistence of bodies that leave traces. The figure of the scented panther, an ancient medieval allegory, becomes the emblem of an elusive animality— one that evokes strength and seduction, capable of attracting without ever fully revealing itself.This creature is a symbol of embodied poetry: it expresses power, sweetness, and ferocity all at once, and rarely reveals itself to the human eye. Those who say to have seen it are probably wrong.&#38;nbsp;These elements will translate into an essential solo choreography and performance that explores the plasticity of a body capable of evoking the echo of an animal presence.SCENTED PANTHER aims to focus on a slow and hypnotic transformation of the body, which progressively incorporates and modifies connotative elements to evoke or summon an imaginary wildness.
	

SCENTED PANTHER è una performance che punta lo sguardo sull'allegoria medievale della pantera profumata: animale iconico, resistente, feroce, seducente e elusivo, immaginato come l'incarnazione della poesia. Questa nuova ricerca prende l’avvio dal desiderio di lavorare sulla sparizione e l’estinzione.
SCENTED PANTHER è un’indagine coreografica sulla resistenza e sulla persistenza di corpi che lasciano tracce. La figura della pantera profumata, antica allegoria medievale, diventa emblema di un’animalità sfuggente, capace di evocare forza e seduzione, di attrarre senza mai concedersi del tutto. Questa creatura è simbolo di poesia incarnata: esprime potere, dolcezza e ferocia allo stesso tempo, e raramente si mostra allo sguardo umano. Chi afferma di averla vista, probabilmente si sbaglia.
Questi elementi si tradurranno in un solo coreografico e performativo essenziale che esplora la plasticità di un corpo capace di evocare l’eco di una presenza animale.
SCENTED PANTHER si vuole concentrare su una trasformazione lenta e ipnotica del corpo, che progressivamente incorpora e modifica elementi connotanti per evocare o richiamare una ferinità immaginaria.

	POEMS è una performance ideata per far convivere corpi umani e non umani — sotto forma di calchi in argilla ed elementi scenici — con l'obiettivo di ripensare le ecologie delle relazioni e affrontare questioni legate alla soggettività e alla vocalità. Il cuore dell’indagine è la dedica: un linguaggio profondo e allucinato capace di evocare amori, delusioni e illusioni che aspirano a una persistenza. Oscillando tra versi invisibili, i corpi si aprono a una visione tesa su metriche alternate. Il tempo della poesia diventa il tempo dell’azione, frantuma il frammento e resiste al fluire dei movimenti, seguendo il componimento poetico scritto per l’occasione da Allison Grimaldi Donahue (poetessa e traduttrice). Come in una dedica che sopravvive, il corpo attraversa un sentiero per ascoltare, guardare, parlare e mentire.


	POEMS is a performance designed to bring together human and non-human bodies — in the form of clay casts and scenic elements — with the aim of rethinking the ecologies of relationships and addressing issues related to subjectivity and vocality. The core of the investigation is the dedication: a profound and hallucinatory language capable of evoking loves, disappointments, and illusions that aspire to persistence. Oscillating between invisible verses, the bodies open up to a vision stretched over alternating metrics. The time of poetry becomes the time of action, shattering the fragment and resisting the flow of movements, following the poetic composition written for the occasion by Allison Grimaldi Donahue (poet and translator). Like a dedication that survives, the body traverses a path to listen, look, speak, and lie.

	JEPLANE è spinto dal desiderio di ricostruire le dinamiche che si scatenano davanti a un paesaggio.L’orizzonte, l’appiattimento del mondo in una linea, il sentimento del futuro. Le proprietà specifiche di questo territorio sono instabilità e iridescenza. Vedere un orizzonte insieme è gettare gli occhi altrove, permettendosi di dire cose mai pensate, forse di non dire nulla.In un set delicatamente artificiale che richiama un’ambientazione intima, Aurelio getta il corpo all'interno di architetture immaginate che provengono dalla propria interiorità preparandosi a costruire uno sguardo limpido, complesso e umido di storia.JEPLANE si presenta a tutti gli effetti come il luogo dei legami impossibili, invisibili, interrotti.

JEPLANE was born from the desire to reconstruct the dynamics that are unleashed in front of a landscape: the horizon, the flattening of the world into a line, the feeling of the future. The specific properties of this territory are instability and iridescence. 'otherwise is to cast your eyes elsewhere, allowing yourself to say and to think things you never thought about, perhaps not to say anything. In a delicately artificial set that seems an intimate setting, Aurelio throws his body into imagined architectures that come from his own interior, preparing to build a clear, complex and humid gaze. Magnetic. the dreamlike: animated vision of possesed armes waving comvulsively while his legs buckle in&#38;nbsp; rhythmic pliés. It’s a captivating loop with variation on the theme, when it stops, dramaturgically the piece unravels, before coming back together with a new persepective in the finale.
Magnetico. Un sogno frenetico e onirico, con le braccia scatenate che si agitano in onde spasmodiche mentre le sue gambe cedono a plié ritmici. Il loop è coinvolgente nelle sue variazioni sul tema, ma quando si ferma, l'opera si svela drammaturgicamente, solo per ricomporsi in un nuovo orizzonte nel finale.

Jeplane is a work built with precise writing and clear coordinates, leaving no room for indecision. Yet, through this precision, it evokes the indistinct, the fantastical, the magical. Evidence of this lies in the fact that a pared-down work, devoid of melodrama, does not hesitate to use every tool (light,&#38;nbsp;scenographic inventions, materials like the white powder scattered on the&#38;nbsp;ground in the finale under the spotlight, the incisive closing) that speaks to the intuition and skin of the viewer.


 Jeplane è un lavoro costruito con scrittura e coordinate nette, senza concessioni all’indecisione. Eppure risulta, attraverso questa precisione, capace di evocare l’indistinto, il fiabesco, il magico; ne è prova il fatto che un lavoro asciutto, senza melodramma, non esita a usare tutti quegli strumenti (la luce, la trovata scenografica, l’uso di materiali come la polvere bianca, gettata a terra sul finale sotto il fascio luminoso, la chiusa icastica) che parlano all’intuizione e alla pelle di chi guarda.

	LAND 

	
						 is a performance that uses a carpet to determine the action focusing the gaze towards a precise and clear dimension, which over time can open up to the surrounding landscape. A common horizon in which people are invited to act. The interest is in how external informations are absorbed and integrated in performer’s inner dimension. The carpet looks like a place of choice and acts as a membrane between the dancer's body and the outside. In this forcibly solitary space, the dancer has to build a code of gestures and gazes that over time allows the performer to define a network of real or imaginary relationships. The practice is conceived as an ongoing learning process that allows to locate the viewers and the performer in a common ground of interaction. LAND is an immersion into a delicate intimacy that makes its way through the folds of the body.
	

						LAND ci parla del paesaggio come di un territorio instabile e cangiante, nel quale siamo completamente immersi.
Non più qualcosa di esterno a noi, ma qualcosa che si genera e si rigenera costantemente attraverso di noi: un
luogo che si articola su una rete di legàmi, visibili e invisibili, che ci connettono al fuori e alle altre persone. Il focus
della ricerca è sulla modalità in cui le informazioni esterne vengono rilevate e inserite all’interno del proprio
paesaggio interiore. In questa dimensione solitaria, il performer è chiamato a costruire un codice di gesti e
sguardi in grado di definire un’articolata rete di relazioni reali o immaginarie. La performance usa una moquette
per definire il luogo e il limite dell’azione: in questo modo si vuole orientare la fruizione verso una dimensione
precisa e netta, che nel tempo può aprirsi all’ambiente circostante e favorire la formazione di un territorio
orizzontale quindi condivisibile e non più solitario.&#38;nbsp;
